Someone not giving up hope that true love will eventually be a part of her life.

Story Behind the Song
Everyone feels lonely at some point in their life, even me, but hope is something to cling to ones heart. Inspired by an ‘almost’ found love but as always, it slipped away and now, waiting for the real thing.

Lyrics

SOME DAY
© Sherri Baker

Always the dreamer
wishing on the stars
I look into my crystal ball
but don’t see you at all
Doesn’t really matter though
that you’re not even there
‘cause just like in my dreams
I’ll search for you everywhere
Some day you’ll open my book of dreams
you’ll turn my page to reality
Some day my story will finally end
my lonely heart gone, for eternity
Maybe I’m a fool
to think I’ll find love
I weave into my fantasy
our love is ecstasy
don’t know what my future holds
I hope you’re coming soon
‘cause I want to believe
I’ll sing a different tune
Some day you’ll open my book of dreams
you’ll turn my page to reality
Some day my story will finally end
my lonely heart gone, for eternity
Write a new chapter for my heart
say we’ll be together forever
I think that’s the perfect place oh a perfect place to start
Some day you’ll open my book of dreams
you’ll turn my page to reality
Some day my story will finally end
my lonely heart gone, for eternity…some day

Lyrics

THOSE ALASKAN MEN
© Sherri Baker

With no more lovers to share fine wine,
I flipped through a magazine to pass the time.
A picture in an ad caught my eye -
Men on a mountain against a bright blue sky.
It said, “Alaskan air is crisp and clean!
Prettiest place you’ve ever seen!”
I read where the men wait everyday
for a beautiful lady to come their way!

Oh my – Those Alaskan men!
Oh yeah – Those Alaskan men!
Brave and bold – Young and old
Rich and poor – That and more!
Gotta see – those Alaskan men!
Oh Yeah! Those Alaskan men!
Gotta be one for me!
Mmm-Mmm – Those Alaskan men!

My mind was reeling at what I saw-
a bare-chested hunk was splittin’ some logs!
Sat up straight when I saw the next lines:
“Picks and axes found gold in those mines!
But you can’t squeeze lovin’ out of that gold!
They’d rather have a woman to hold!”
Packin’ my bags – I’ll be gone by ten,
‘cause I want one of them – Alaskan men!

Yeah – I want to be there instead ‘a here,
so my rush is on for the wild frontier!

Gotta be one for me!
Mmm-Mmm – Those Alaskan men!

Maybe I Was Wrong

Long Description of Song
A woman who has recently left her man decides she’s had enough of being alone at night so she decides to get out and go to a place not far from home. Much to her shock, the man she left is playing at the bar she just happened to visit. She panics, can’t decide whether to stay or leave, thinks she made a big mistake in leaving him because maybe he loved her after all, but waits until he starts to play to see what happens. She is more than surprised when his smile lights up when he sees her. She realizes that he loved her all along and she made a big mistake in leaving him.

Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by a terrific guitarist/musician friend of mine from NY. If he only knew!!!

Lyrics

MAYBE I WAS WRONG
© Sherri Baker

Don’t want to spend one more night alone
so I go to this place not far from home
I sit in the back hidden by the haze
and think about my better days
But gazing across the smoky bar
my heart nearly stops
The man I left is tuning his guitar
ready to play the big country star

Maybe I was wrong but I can’t face him
Shouldn’t really stay, I don’t know what to say
Made a big mistake I didn’t understand
Maybe he loved me all along
Maybe I was wrong

I hear the cheers of the rowdy crowd
when the band runs on stage lookin’ so proud
He steps to the mike and begins to play
and turns around and looks my way
He’s singing the song ‘Have No Fear’
but stops halfway through
His smile lights up when he sees I’m here
my eyes drown in a flood of tears

Maybe I was wrong but I can’t face him
Shouldn’t really stay, I don’t know what to say
Made a big mistake I didn’t understand
Maybe he loved me all along
Maybe I was wrong

Our eyes lock, defenses fall, now I realize he loves me after all

Maybe I was wrong, it’s time to face him
Shouldn’t really go, now I know what to say
Made a big mistake, I didn’t understand
That he loved me all along
Oh yeah, he loved me all along
No doubt now maybe I was wrong

Long Description of Song

But she’s had enough of his accusations so while she wants to call it quits, she won’t leave mad and she’ll make sure he understands he doesn’t pull the wool over her eyes and knows he’s been busted!

Story Behind the Song
“I woke up at 2:00 one morning with the rhyming in the chorus ringing in my head. I got up, wrote it down, decided it was the perfect time to spend writing and by 5:00am, I had the idea on paper.”

Lyrics

LIES ARE LIES
© Sherri Baker

Someone told you I’m foolin’ around
havin’ fun all over town
and now I see the blood in your eyes
and your smile turned upside down
how can you think those rumors are true
when I’ve always been faithful to you
you say we’re through well I think so too
but there’s one thing I won’t do..
I’m not leavin’
while you’re still seethin’
from the things you’re believin’ ‘bout me
I’m not takin’
the hurt you’re makin’
with love you’ve been fakin’ I see
save your last goodbye
‘til I tell you why all those lies are lies
People say you’re on the cheatin’ route
and I said I have my doubts
but when I saw that girl in your arms
my heart turned inside out
why should I take the heat for your beef
when I see you two-timin’ me
I’ll tell you Baby there’s no more ‘we’
and I won’t let you blame me..
CHORUS
You call those fast talkin’, night walkin’ drinkin’ buddies your friends
and show more faith in them than me time and time again
I’m not leavin’
while you’re still seethin’
from the things you’re believin’ ‘bout me
I’m not takin’
the hurt you’re makin’
with love you’ve been fakin’ I see
say your last goodbye
‘cause now you know why all those lies are lies

Lyrics

IT’S ALL YOUR LOVE
© Sherri Baker

I hold you when I sleep at night
and dream of your love I’m holding tight
I want to remember everything
the way you comb your long brown hair
the bright smile that you always wear
and your sweet voice when I hear you sing
Baby you mean so much to me

It’s your laugh I love to hear
It’s your charm I find so dear
It’s your touch that fades my fears
One kiss just isn’t enough
when you give me so much
it’s all your love

I keep you in my thoughts each day
and will after I’m old and gray
I’m amazed at all the things you do
the way you hold a child in need
hopes and dreams you give to me
there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you
Baby you mean so much to me

It’s your laugh I love to hear
It’s your charm I find so dear
It’s your touch that fades my fears
One kiss just isn’t enough
when you give me so much
it’s all your love

I’m in heaven when you’re by my side
My back is straight, my step is light, you’re the reason why

It’s your laugh I love to hear
It’s your charm I find so dear
It’s your touch that fades my fears
One kiss just isn’t enough
when you give me so much
it’s all your love
